Free School Meals
Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is additional funding paid to schools in respect of their disadvantaged pupils. These are pupils who:
- have been registered for free schools meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years
- is a child of a member of the serving forces (or has been in the last 4 years)
- have been looked after for one day or more
- are adopted
- leave care under a Special Guardianship Order or a Residence Order
Schools receive this funding to support these eligible pupils and narrow the attainment gap between them and their peers.

The DfE produce a file that can be imported into your SIMS to update your pupil data with the Pupil Premium Indicator. This file is now available for download from the Key To Success site in the form of a .csv that can be imported into your Sims system. (Please note: it is not always strictly necessary to import the file into your SIMS system. If you know that your current data is accurate you may not want to import the file. The file can be opened as an Excel spreadsheet and printed to use for checking).
Full instructions for downloading and importing the data file can be found in the booklet at the bottom of this page.
PLEASE NOTE: SIMS must be on the latest version
The latest Sims report to identify the pupils who are eligible under FSM ever 6 from January census is available via the SIMS .net Reports link.
