Corporate Health and Safety

Foreword by The Chief Executive

The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 encompasses all work situations and involves all of us: employer, employees, contractors, and partners.

All of us have a duty to each other, to maintain a safe working environment that is, so far as is reasonably practicable, free from hazards and risk of injury to employees or to others who may be affected by the Council’s work activities.

Where it is not reasonably practicable to ensure a hazard free environment, it is the employer's responsibility to provide adequate protection, information, instruction, training, and supervision to control the remaining risks.

It is with this in mind that the Statement of Health and Safety Policy, Organisation Specific Responsibilities (links below) and A-Z of Arrangements are produced.

The contents have my approval and the authorisation of the Council.
